Why did Kansas ban Salvia ?

If you live in Oklahoma then it is worth bearing in mind that there have been recent laws making Salvia banned. Kansas residents too are now subject to a series of laws that make Salvia banned.

All this panic over Salvia – which had remained ‘under the radar’ until very recently – may have come about due to the tragic of one Delaware teen who, his parents tell us, killed himself because as a result of his high use of Salvia. Get Salvia banned now, they say.

Drug agents say smoking or chewing salvia produces hallucinations and can cause a person to become dizzy and impair speech.

Salvia Divinorum is a hallucinogenic herb and is a close cousin of the mint family. It is native to Mexico and is legal under US federal drug laws. This hasn’t stopped around 9 states (as at the time of writing) making the use of Salvia legal or restricting its use and possession in some way. Some 20 further states are considering new laws to see Salvia banned or in some way restricted in some.

Yet Salvia is still widely available on line. There has been no solid evidence that using Salvia causes any long- or short-term effects (other than the hallucinogenic experience that, we assuming, is expected).
